Regular-season champion and
top-seeded UNLV advanced to the
championship match of the 2009
Mountain West Conference Women’s
Tennis Tournament with a 4-1 win
over No. 5 seed New Mexico. The
Rebels will face No. 2 seed TCU in a
rematch of the 2008 tournament
final, on Saturday, April 25 at 10
a.m. MT at the Jerry Cline Tennis
Center in Albuquerque, N.M.
UNLV
gained the first point by winning
the doubles point with victories at
No. 1 and No. 2. Kristina
Nedeltcheva and Katy Williams beat
Ola Abou-Zekry and Emma Hayman, 8-2
at No. 1, while Alisa Razina and
Anna Kaljun beat Ashley Bonner and
Anya Villanueva-Forte, 8-0 at No. 2
for the 1-0 lead.
Rumyana Terzierva earned the second
point for the Rebels at No. 6
singles by defeating Maria Sotirchos,
6-1, 6-0.
New
Mexico’s Mackenzie White cut the
Rebel lead to 2-1 with a 6-1, 6-2
win at No. 2 singles over Nikol
Dimitrova.
Adrienn Hidvegi and Nedeltcheva
secured the UNLV win with wins at
No. 4 and No. 1 singles.
