Davey Sandgren (Tennessee):

“I thought we started really strong. We made a lot of balls. We served well and returned well. We were really on top of our game for the first set. In the second set, I thought we kept that up. We went up a break, I was serving for it and at match point he (Wake Forest’s Steve Foreman) hit a flying winner. It was just too good. They played really well into the second set. Then we got down a break in the third and we decided to pick it up. We did and just pulled through it. (NBA Cleveland Cavaliers star) LeBron James really inspired me last night.”

John-Patrick Smith (Tennessee):

“Towards the end, we executed a bit better. We both had good serves, especially when we were down that break. Once we find that service rhythm and movement, we usually take care of ourselves pretty easily. That was evident in our last couple of games. We both held to love and that really showed we played to our strengths. It (the match) was up and down. We were up a break and then down a break. We go back on serve in the tiebreak. They played a great breaker. There were a few points we could have won here and there which could have changed the momentum. To their credit, they (Wake Forest’s Steve Foreman and Cory Parr) played well. They got the break earlier in the third, but we were able to fight back.”

Tim Puetz (Auburn):

“We felt like we played really poorly in the first set. We knew we could beat them. We lost to them in the regular season, but we knew that if we played well we could beat them. Nate (Schnugg) and Jamie (Hunt) didn’t play their greatest, so we knew we had a chance. We played quite a bit better in the second and third. Our serving got better. I got broken twice during the first set, but after the first set, we didn’t get broken anymore. That was key. We are both from the same conference and played them (Tennessee’s Davey Sandgren and John-Patrick Smith) twice this year. We beat them once, didn’t finish the second one and in the fall, they beat us. It is going to be a good (semifinal) match tomorrow.”

Dominic Inglot (Virginia):

“I feel really confident. I think that my partner (Michael Shabaz) and I are playing really good doubles, probably better than we ever have. Everything is going really well. We haven’t really been broken, so we’re serving really well. Our opponent (Pepperdine’s Omar Altmann and Bassam Beidas) came out strong. They started off serving really well. We felt that as long as we held serve, we would be comfortable and could take a few more chances on the returns – and that’s what we did. After a couple of games as the set went on, we had more and more looks. We just took a few chances at the beginning of the games which gave us key opportunities and we just tried to take them after that.”
