SKILLMAN, N.J. - After opening the 2011 spring season atop the
Campbell/ITA College Tennis Rankings, the Stanford women and
Virginia men held on to their No. 1 rankings, heading into the third
annual ITA Kick-Off Weekend. Stanford has yet to begun their dual
match schedule while Virginia picked up three wins over ranked
opponents, including a 7-0 shutout against 16th-ranked Illinois.
Follow the Leader: For the men, following Virginia
is (in order): USC, Tennessee, Ohio State, Texas, UCLA,
Florida, Stanford, Baylor and Texas A&M. On the women's side,
Stanford is followed by: Florida, Baylor, Notre Dame, UCLA, North
Carolina, Duke, Michigan, California and Clemson.
Conference Count: Men's Top 25: ACC - 6; Big 12 and
SEC - 5; Pac-10 - 4; Big Ten - 3; Big East and West Coast - 1. Five
different conferences placed at least one team in the top 10, with
the Big 12 and Pac-10 leading the way with three teams each featured
in the top 10 spots. Women's Top 25: SEC - 7; ACC and Pac-10 - 6;
Big 10 - 3; Big 12 - 2; Big East - 1. Five different conferences
also placed at least one team in the top 10, with the Pac-10 leading
the way with three California teams included.
Twice as Nice: This week 15 schools have both their
men's and women's programs ranked inside this the Campbell/ITA Top
25 Rankings.

Kicking Off
2011: The ITA Kick-Off Weekend features 15 men's and 15
women's host sites with four teams at each site vying to advance to
the Team Indoor Championships. The 15 men's teams to win both of
their matches at these events will be invited to play in the Feb.
18-21 ITA National Men's Team Indoor Championship at the Seattle
Tennis Club (hosted by the University of Washington), while the 15
women's teams to win both of their matches will be invited to play
in the Feb. 18-21 ITA National Women's Team Indoor Championship at
the Boar's Head Sports Club (hosted by the University of Virginia)
