Injury Forces Clijsters Out of Indian Wells

The curse of injury that seems to have attached itself to the final lap of Kim Clijstersí career has struck again with the 28 year-old Belgian announcing she has been forced to withdraw from next month's BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells because of an injured left ankle.

 

Evert Wants Grunting Stopped

Chris Evert has joined the campaign to stop grunting from causing noise pollution to womenís tennis.

Evertís great rival Martina Navratilova made an outspoken attack against the grunters in tennis when receiving the Philippe Chatrier Award at the International Tennis Federationís World Championsí Dinner during the French Open a couple of years ago and now the American has followed suit.

 

Sock to Work with USTA Again

Up and coming US teenager Jack Sock has decided to work with USTA's Jay Berger again beginning next week at the tournament in Memphis and lasting through Key Biscayne. Sock will still maintain a relationship with his private coach, Mike Wolfe, but apparently Wolfe has obligations at home in Kansas City.

 

Federer Corrects Misunderstanding of His Davis Cup Comment

Roger Federer has knocked back erroneous claims that he slammed doubles partner Stanislas Wawrinka with his post-match analysis of their losing Davis Cup match after his words were turned completely on their head through a mis-translation from French,

The No. 3 said of the loss: "I played a good doubles, and Stan not a bad one." But once the remark passed into English the "not a bad one" erroneously became "a bad one."
