Watching Sampras
Paid Off for Raonic
Milos
Raonic, who defended his SAP Open title in San Jose last weekend, chose
a perfect role model for his big serving game: 14-time Grand Slam
champion Pete Sampras. Both men have very easygoing service motion and
both dominate their opponents with their serves. “For two or three
months I was doing everything with the foot up, but my coach talked me
out of that one but it was tough to talk me out of it.” the Canadian
Raonic said. “There are lot of similarities and pretty fluid for both
serves, but there is still a lot of work to serve like him. Especially
on the second serve.”
Murray Wants More
Points for Davis Cup Play
Andy
Murray has voiced his displeasure over the state of Davis Cup
participation and ATP ranking points. As a member of a nation living in
the junior zonal ranks of the international team competition, the Scot
would not have earned any ranking points had he played last weekend when
Britain got past Slovakia.
But
players from World group nations are awarded the points, which sits
badly with the Scot. Murray voiced his complaints to the Foxsports
website. "It is, basically, unfair. Not everyone has the luxury of
playing in the World group.
Azarenka Knows She
is in a New Situation at Number One
Victoria
Azarenka knows she's turned around her tennis career over the past year,
winning the Australian Open and taking over No. 1. So far, the Belarus
belter is also a perfect 17-0 on the season with three titles.
Wozniacki Would
Like Some Respect From Navratilova
Caroline
Wozniacki is asking for a bit of respect from long-retired Martina
Navratilova after the 55-year-old ex-player's repeated slamming of the
current top players in the women's game
Wozniacki, who
finished year-end No. 1 in 2010 and 2011, was replaced a the top as
Azarenka won the Australian Open. But the Dane is shocked by criticism
from Navratilova, who also slammed the perceived lack of depth at the
top of the current women's game. The player advised the part-time TV
commentator to "think a little bit."
