This has not been a fun event for seeds. We've lost five so far, and all four of the players to reach the quarterfinal are unseeded. This appears to cost Alexandr Dolgopolov his Top Twenty chance.

Singles - Second Round: I Andreev def. (4) D Istomin 6-7(3-7) 6-3 6-2
It's worth remembering that the top four seeds here had byes. So this was Denis Istomin's first clay match of the season. Still a substantial surprise, and it costs him his Top Forty chance.

Singles - Second Round: G Garcia-Lopez def. P Mathieu 6-4 6-2
Obviously Paul-Henri Mathieu still has work to do, but just winning his first round match should take him to around #360.

Not much doubt now that Benoit Paire will be hitting the Top Hundred.
