First Two Entries Confirmed for 2012 Olympic Tennis Event

The ITF today confirmed the first two entries for the 2012 Olympic Tennis Event after Tripartite Commission Invitation places were allocated in the women’s singles to Stephanie Vogt of Liechtenstein and Veronica Cepede Royg of Paraguay. The Olympic Tennis Event will take place at the All England Club, Wimbledon on 28 July – 5 August 2012.

 

Grass Court Championships to be Held in Arizona

Senior tennis players are invited to play in a USTA Southwest Grass Court event to be held in Scottsdale, Arizona June 8-10 at the Desert Highlands Racquet Club.

Sharapova Pulls a Prank Claiming She Cut Her Hair Short

In the tradition of Caroline Wozniacki's 2011 "kangaroo attack," Maria Sharapova has admitted that pictures of her in short hair - presumably a new cut - were only a wig. And the world No. 2 says she is more than surprised by the commotion and outrage the snaps posted on her Facebook page have generated.

 

 

Clijsters Forced to Skip Clay Season Due to Injury

The clay season will be a bust for injured Kim Clijsters, with the Belgian ready to skip the clay as a hip injury slowly heals. The 28-year-old Belgian, winner of three US Open titles and one at the Australian Open, said she will concentrate on trying to be ready for the London Olympics, where she has said that she wants to possibly end her career.
