Ivan
Lendl has left his mark on the Monte Carlo Masters after the tournament
immortalized his right hand print in plasters as the clay Masters 1000
added to its own version of a Hall of Fame.
The champion at the iconic seaside venue in 1985 and 1988 with a total of eight appearances gave away just a bit of his reserve and dignity as his hand was pressed into wet sticky plaster.
The new coach of Andy Murray worked in the unusual appointment with a famed French artisan after various match scouting missions on behalf of his world No. 4 client. The hand impression will be eventually cast in bronze to join an honor role of past champions honored by the club.
