Djokovic and Nadal Upset With ATP Secret to Allow Blue Courts

No. 1 Novak Djokovic has joined Rafael Nadal in condemning the unpublished 2011 ATP decision to allow a blue clay experiment for this week's Madrid Masters. The Serb said that top players should have been consulted on the controversial move which has put the event in world headlines for days - exactly as organizers no doubt knew it would.

German Tournament Might Have Japanese Audience

Japan will have a marginal "home" advantage as the nation compete in next month's World Team Championships in Dusseldorf. Besides host Germany, which is guaranteed fans within the population, Japan won't likely be short of supporters either.

It just so happens that the Rhine city is headquarters for dozens of Japanese corporations, with around 8,000 Japanese living in the area. And if they come out in their numbers for the May 20-26 pre-French Open warm-up, the arena could at times feel like Little Tokyo.

Oudin Claims USTA French Open Wild Card

USTA Player Development announced that Melanie Oudin has earned a main draw wild card into the 2012 French Open. This year, the USTA awarded one women’s singles main draw wild card into the French Open to the American who earned the most WTA Tour Ranking points at two of three $50,000 USTA Pro Circuit clay-court events—Dothan, Ala.; Charlottesville, Va.; and Indian Harbour Beach, Fla.

Brian Baker earned the men’s USTA French Open Wild Card last week.
