Andy Murray was pleased with his 25th birthday win over David Nalbandian which got him off to a good start in Rome - but the Scot then began to wonder what other surprises were ahead for him on the big day.

"I hope they (his travel team) have something planned back at the hotel, I don't know yet I haven't opened my presents, but I hope they've got something for me," he said after outlasting Nalbandian in two and a half hours 6-1, 4-6, 7-5.

Groth Hits Serve at 163 MPH

The ATP World Tour’s website reported that Australian Sam Groth 24, ranked 340th in the world, produced the serve at a second- tier Challenger Tour tournament in South  Korea last week .

The ATP said it doesn’t officially recognize service speed records because of variance in radar guns, but “confirmed that the event used approved equipment, and that other data gathered appeared within a normal range.”
