Murray’s Appearance at Queen’s is Uncertain
Chris
Kermode, tournament director of the AEGON Championships which begin at
London’s Queen’s Club on Monday will spend an anxious couple of days
after Andy Murray, top seed, defending champion and main attraction,
refused to guarantee his involvement after a physically demanding French
Open.
Williams is Without a Mixed Doubles Partner for Wimbledon and The
Olympics
Bob
Bryan still has his hopes of playing Olympic mixed doubles with Serena
Williams despite the high-profile pair losing in the first round of the
event at the French Open.
The
doubles ace accepted the invitation to play from the Serena camp through
his own agent before the Roland Garros start and said he was considering
the proposal something of a trial run for a possible London Games
partnership.
Errani Credits Racquet, and the Power of Thinking
Sara
Errani stands only 5-feet-4 inches tall, but she has proved in reaching
the Roland Garros semifinals that height doesn’t matter as much as some
might think.
"A big
change for me really was the racquet," Errani said of her Babolat Pure
Drive GT. "It makes me feel much better on the court, like I have more
power and am not too different from the other players in terms of power
and those things. But also physically I worked very hard in the winter -
so maybe it's just a mix of everything that's helping right now."
Sharapova Admits to Being an International People Watcher
If
she didn't have a full-time job as the highest-paid woman in sport,
Maria Sharapova has her own dream of the perfect lifestyle .
The
self-confessed people-watcher and French Open semi-finalist has dubbed
Paris one of the best world cities for indulging in her not-so-secret
passion. "It's the best here, so eclectic, but Tokyo is up there, too,"
said the Russian whose LA base is not too shabby either for unusual
people spotting purposes.
Queen’s Announces Wild Cards
British
players Jamie Baker, Oliver Golding and Liam Broady have been awarded
the three remaining main draw wild cards into the AEGON Championships,
which begins at The Queen’s Club on Monday.
