Federer at Halle Acknowledges His Street-Naming Honor
Roger
Federer will always be a part of Halle, Germany after the home of the
Gerry Weber Open grass-court event officially dedicated a street leading
to the stadium in his honor.
"Now I
will practically always be here," said the five-time winner of the
pre-Wimbledon event which - unlike its ATP rival this week at Queen's
club London, has for years boasted a moveable roof to prevent washouts
from bad weather.
Nadal On His Way to Halle and Roger Federer
Rafael
Nadal has only hours to celebrate his history-making seventh title from
eight French Open appearances, with the Spaniard due on Halle, Germany,
to begin his pre-Wimbledon preparation in a field which includes rival
Roger Federer.
Nestor Not Stopping at 40
Even
though he will turn 40 in a few months, Canada's Daniel Nestor sees no
reason to hang up his rackets anytime soon. Nestor and his partner Max
Mirnyi repeated as Roland Garros doubles champion, stopping Bob and Mike
Bryan from winning their record 12th major.
However, Nestor whose daughter is a toddler doesn't see himself playing
until the age of 44. While he and Mirnyi have seized the No. 1 ranking
from the Bryans, eventually, he realizes that he will slow down. When
asked whether he'll compete at the 2016 Olympics, he called it a "big
stretch."
Nadal Loves Fishing, But the Timing Conflicts With Tennis Practice
Rafael
Nadal may be the king of clay, but the French Open hero says he's just
an amateur when it comes to his hobby of deep-sea fishing. The
Mediterranean islander from Mallorca uses the recreational sport as a
way to relax outside of tennis. But Nadal says he's anything but a pro
with a deep-sea rod and reel in his hand.
