Requests Olympic Wild Card for Cornet
The
French Tennis Federation has named Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Gilles Simon,
Gael Monfils and Richard Gasquet as its singles players for the
Olympics. No women made the cut as the FFT did not nominate top -10
player Marion Bartoli, who has refused to play Fed Cup for the nation.
However, the FFT has requested a wildcard for Alize Cornet, who on
Sunday won her second career tour title at Bad Gastein.

which inadvertently injured a linesman on the shin during the weekend'
Queen's club final, British media reported on Monday.

Tennis’ MacKay Passes Away at 76
Barry
MacKay, everybody’s favorite TV commentator, tournament promoter, tour
player and college tennis champion passed away over the week end in San
Francisco said to be due to a longtime illness.
Jones/Winters Honored In Halle
At
the annual Press Dinner held during the Gerry Weber Open, in Halle,
Germany, Cheryl Jones and Mark Winters, both from Los Angeles,
California, received the International Tennis Writers Award.
This
was the first time American journalists have been saluted at the
tournament that is celebrating its 20th Anniversary. Jones
and Winters have distinguished themselves providing thoughtful and
incisive stories from tennis events around the world for some time.

Junior Tennis Champions Center (“JTCC”) in College Park, Maryland, is
seeking an ambitious and hardworking individual with a passion for
tennis interested in management, marketing, and program administration.
The position will provide the opportunity to work on a variety of
projects, gain exposure to numerous facets of the tennis industry, and
impact the day-to-day productivity of the organization.
They are calling the job Management Associate, they could call it “Dream
Job” for it calls on learning and being involved in marketing,
management and administration. Perhaps they should call it “Hot Job.” It
calls for exciting duties in a hot tennis academy, in a hot part of the
country, working with hot tennis people who are bringing about hot
results.
