Haas in Top Form at Halle

2012 Daily Tennis News Wire -
Tommy Haas can dream again of achievements in tennis after the 34-year-old upset Roger Federer 7-6 (5), 6-4 to unexpectedly win the Halle grass-court title.

"I don't have many words to say really, except that it is an amazing feeling to win another title in Germany," said the LA-based veteran who made a comeback after hip surgery,

"Winning a 13th title was a goal for me and to maybe even achieve it at home before the end of my career.

"To have somebody across the net like Roger is a real honor for me. To have that picture with the winning trophy and Roger next to me is something really special, something I'll obviously never forget. I'm just really happy and proud."

Haas, who also won Halle in 2009 and reached a Wimbledon semi-final a few weeks later, has shot back inside the Top 50 on 49th after his achievement. He stood second in the word at his peak a decade ago.

"My first thought is that this is always a very special win. It's up there (among his best) if not the sweetest one considering the injuries, considering not knowing how much longer it would really go or if I can actually get back to a certain level. Seeing how I played this week on grass here and beating Roger. It's probably up there."
