Coach Annacone
Compares Federer and Sampras at Same Age
As
the argument to distinguish the GOAT (Greatest of All Time) continue,
few are better placed to make a valid judgment that Paul Annacone who
coached Pete Sampras to many of his Grand Slam triumphs and last Sunday
fulfilled the role of lead advisor to Roger Federer as a record 17th major
singles titles was added to the imperious Swiss’ numerous list of
achievements.
''The biggest
similarity is that they're both great and very driven,'' Annacone said
after Federer's four-set finals defeat of Andy Murray equaled the All
England Club record held by Sampras and Englishman William Renshaw, who
won his seven titles in the 1880’s.

Survey Shows Murray and Radwanska Most Popular

Murray has taken his time winning over the tennis public, particularly
in his native Britain. But the phenomenon which is Twitter has proved at

Collegian Gibbs
Weighs Pro Options
NCAA
champion Nicole Gibbs is pretty sure that she will return to "The Farm"
(Stanford University) in the fall for her junior year. But after scoring
her first victory over Thailand's Noppawan Lertcheewakarn at Stanford's
Bank of the West Classic, the Ohio native said she will play pro events
and in the fall there is an outside chance she'll turn pro.
"It's a very tough
decision, the toughest," Gibbs said. "I get really great competition at
Stanford and the best coaching from Lele Forood, but I've told her not
to count on for me for college tournaments in the fall."
