Murray Finally Wins A Major
Andy
Murray finally ended the 76 years long wait for a British male Grand
Slam winner when he beat defending champion Novak Djokovic to win the US
Open in a five sets contest that last nearly as many hours. And
afterwards he admitted: “I don't know how I managed to come through in
the end.”
Djokovic Now Aiming To Regain Number One Ranking
Novak
Djokovic refused to be disconsolate after losing his US Open title to
Andy Murray and insisted his aim for the remainder of 2012 is to reclaim
the world no.1 ranking he lost to Roger Federer after Wimbledon.
“I'm going to try to recover from this and move on. Any loss is a bad
loss. There is no question about it. I'm disappointed to lose the
match, but in the back of my mind I knew that I gave it all. I really,
really tried to fight my way back through.”
US Girls Progressing
With
each passing month, it looks like the legendary Williams sisters will
have some back up in the singles ranks sometime soon. Serena won her
15th Grand Slam title at the US Open on Sunday and on the same day,
American Samantha Crawford of Atlanta captured the 2012 US Open Girls'
Championship with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Anett Kontaveit of Estonia.

The
Women's Tennis Association (WTA) announced that Serena Williams and the
doubles teams of Andrea Hlavackova/Lucie Hradecka and Liezel Huber/Lisa
Raymond have qualified for this year’s TEB BNP Paribas WTA
Championships, which will be staged at the Sinan Erdem Arena in
Istanbul, Turkey.
