ATP Board Approves Some Rule Changes
At
its recent meetings in New York, the ATP Board of Directors approved a
rule change and a trial for the 2013 season, both proposed by the new
ATP Competition Committee.
From 2013, on both the ATP World Tour and ATP Challenger Tour, a time
violation between points (25 seconds) will be penalized in the first
instance with a warning. For the second and all subsequent violations,
the penalty will be a fault for the server and a point penalty for the
receiver. Currently, the rule is a warning and then point penalty for
both the server and receiver.
Ferrero Has Decided To Retire From The Tour
Another
of men’s tennis former world no.1’s, Spain’s Juan Carlos Ferrero has
announced he will bring his competitive career to a close a little over
nine years since officially becoming the ATP World Tour’s top ranked
player when he retires after next month's Valencia Open.
Del Potro Might Miss Davis Cup Tie With Czech Republic
Argentina
might find itself missing another main protagonist in the weekend Davis
Cup semi-final with the visiting Czech Republic as Juan Del Potro
struggles to recover from a lingering right wrist injury in time to take
the court.
Doubles Entry List Announced For Kuala Lumpur
The
Malaysian Open, Kuala Lumpur 2012, released the main draw doubles entry
list, and said that its inaugural doubles Champions from Poland, Marcin
Matkowski and Mariusz Fyrstenberg will headline the field. They are
seventh in the race for the London World Tour Finals, with the top eight
teams qualifying. The pairing won the Malaysian Open, Kuala Lumpur in
2009 as part of their current title haul of 13 tournaments. In 2010 they
were also finalists in Malaysia, and clearly feel very comfortable with
the court and playing conditions at Bukit Jalil.
