Berdych Leads
Czech Republic To Davis Cup Finals
Barely
a week after suffering the disappointment of losing out in the U.S. Open
semi final, Tomas Berdych is now experiencing the elation of leading the
Czech Republic into a surprise place in the Davis Cup final.
Now the Czech’s
go forward to meeting defending champion’s Spain who beat the United
States on home soil in Gijon and are now aiming at a fourth title in
five years.
Murray Gets
Spectacular Homecoming
Andy
Murray was afforded a true hero’s homecoming as 15,000 of his fellow
Scots lined the streets of Dunblane for the US Open champion and Olympic
gold medalist. His adoring fans chanted Murray’s name after waiting in
pouring rain for hours as he walked victoriously through the streets,
stopping at a golden postbox erected in his honor before heading to the
courts where he learnt to play the sport.
Agassi
Connects With People, Not Companies
Andre
Agassi is taking his post tennis career as seriously, if not more
seriously than he did the last decade or so of his on court life when he
recommitted himself to the game.
"I connect with
people, not companies," Agassi said. "So when I form a relationship with
a company it's because I have a relationship with its leaders. And I
find that I can only form a relationship with a company's leaders if
their approach is authentic, if their product fits within my values and
world view. That's a long way of saying I don't lend my name to anything
that isn't me."
Murray
Witnesses The Benefit of Celebrity
Andy
Murray was quick to learn the lessons of tennis celebrity status, as the
new US Open champion and his 30 closest friends ate on the house at a
New York Chinese restaurant after he broke his Grand Slam duck with last
weekend's title over Novak Djokovic.
Team Murray and
friends descended on a Manhattan establishment and stayed for two hours,
according to the New York Daily News. In addition to a food tab in
excess of $5,000, there were also the drinks, though the new champion
stuck to his teetotaler lifestyle by drinking a lemon fizz. The dinner
food and drink came at no charge to the tennis hero, who got it all comped, courtesy of his new status as a Grand Slam champion.
