Australia Drops Tomic From Davis Cup Team
The
recent poor competitive reputation of Bernard "The Tank Engine" Tomic
has resulted in the unreliable youngster being dropped from
consideration from the Australian side which will play the Davis Cup
first round February 1-3 in Kaohsiung against Taiwan.
Lendl Drops Out of London
London
tennis fans, looking forward to applauding Ivan Lendl as the mastermind
who finally turned Andy Murray into a Grand Slam champion, have suffered
a disappointment as the former world no.1 made a last minute withdrawal
from the Statoil Masters at Royal Albert Hall this week end.
Courier: Something To Be Said For Pushy Parents
U.S.
Davis Cup captain Jim Courier is one of the most well- reasoned people
in tennis, which is why he also received accolades as a TV analyst. He
can offer up conservative opinions, as well as ones that go against the
grain. When asked whether it’s possible for tennis parents both to
develop a well rounded human being and tennis champion without being
pushy, he said that history teaches that’s usually those parents who
drove their children hard who ended up developing top players.
McEnroe Is A Popular TV Analyst
John
McEnroe has been one of the world’s most popular TV analysts for 15
years, but when he first started on the job, he was pretty insecure
about his talent level.
“At
first people would come up to me and say, “Oh, you’re really good at
this.” And somehow I would take that as a negative – what, you didn’t
think I was going to be good?” he told the Daily Telegraph.
