Sampras: Nadal Will Pass Me
It
didn't take Pete Sampras to lose his title as the all time Grand Slam
singles winner, as Roger Federer passed him with his 15th major crown in
2009 - just seven years after the American won his last major at the US
Open. Now Sampras thinks that Spaniard Rafael Nadal, who currently has
11, will pass him. Nadal has been off the tour recovering from knee
surgery since Lukas Rosol stunned him at Wimbledon.
Taiwan's Hsieh Su-Wei Makes Big Jump In The Rankings
Taiwan's
Hsieh Su-wei can be very pleased about her year as she shot up from a
No. 172 ranking to a career-high 25, making her the highest-ranked
Taiwanese ever. She credits her new partnership with veteran Aussie
coach Paul McNamee for her success.
Ferrer Is The Spanish Man Of The Hour
When
it comes to Spanish tennis, David Ferrer has been forced to spend much
of his career in the shadow of Rafael Nadal.
However with the Majorcan absent from the ATP World Tour since
Wimbledon, Ferrer has been able to take the spotlight and has now been
named Spanish Player of the Year by Association of Spanish Tennis
Writers.
Golfer McIlroy Credits Wozniacki For His 2012 Success
Champion
golfer Rory McIlroy has named tennis girlfriend Caroline Wozniacki as a
major key to his runaway success on the links in 2012. Wozniacki, the
former WTA No. 1 who now stands tenth, must be hoping for a bit of the
victory spark of what has sent her man to this month's PGA Tour Player
of the Year honors.
