Maria Sharapova is redoing a wave of confidence after arriving in Florida for the Miami Masters with the weekend Indian Wells title in her pocket. The third seed is full of fresh confidence after lifting her second trophy at the Californian desert event and first of the season.

 

 

Azarenka Is In Miami: Will She Or Won’t She Play?

Despite reports that she had already quit the tournament due to an ankle injury which she has been carrying for a month or more, Victoria Azarenka has not officially withdrawn - though she sounded less than optimistic about her chances of actually playing later in the week. "Well, I'm here," she said. "That's at least something."

Heather Watson,  who alongside with Laura Robson was just a few weeks ago being  lauded as the bright and promising future of British female tennis, has used that worrying term ‘burn-out’ to describe her current lack of motivation.

The United States Tennis Association (USTA)  celebrated the refurbishment and creation of 10,000 youth-sized tennis courts in the United States as part of USTA’s commitment to First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! initiative.

 

 

Yeomans Was One Of A Kind

Patricia Henry Yeomans, (Pat to those who knew her), passed away on March 13th at her Hancock Park home in California. Words can never adequately explain the influence the 95-year-old had on tennis locally or nationally, for that matter.

The USPTA is seeking a Director of Marketing who will play an important role in expanding the organization’s brand identity.  They will seek opportunities for endorsements and ad sales.

The Director will also have an integral role in planning and coordinating the association’s annual convention, be responsible for organizing and promoting the trade show and securing endorsements and exhibitors.
