Women Players Suffering Sports Injuries

Victoria Azarenka heads a notable list of spring casualties who are forced to the sidelines as the United States hard court spring swing is set to shift onto clay.

Azarenka now will not compete until Madrid in early May but the Belarusian's scheduled return is long before that of Canada’s Aleksandra Wozniak has been told that she needs another three months off due to shoulder trouble.

 

Former Champion Condemns Some Players For Making Side Deals

Ann Haydon-Jones, the Wimbledon and French champion of the 1960’s is clearly a winner from a different era. However the 74 year-old has launched a pointed attack at Caroline Wozniacki and some of today’s other female stars, saying they are happy to make money through advertising deals because they don’t have the talent to succeed on court. Jones was prompted into her attack by seeing Wozniacki’s campaign to launch her own brand of lingerie, complete with a series of pictures of the 22 year-old Dane clad in nothing but her underwear.

 

Tennis Is The Fourth Most Popular International Sport

Tennis is rising as a popular sport, at least according to some internet statistics.

The website mostpopularsports.net uses a new method to measure popularity by tracking the results of website visitor traffic of over 300 sports websites, which reflect which sports the internet users in the particular country are most interested in.

The City of Coronado, California, is requesting proposals from qualified individuals or companies to provide retail tennis merchandise concessionaire services at the reconstructed Tennis Center.

Proposals may be obtained at the Coronado Community Center, 1845 Strand Way, Coronado, CA  92118, by emailing sdownes@coronado.ca.us,, on the City of Coronado’s website, www.coronado.ca.us, or by calling (619) 522-2451.
