ITF Confirms Dates For 2014 Davis Cup Calendar

The ITF confirmed the calendar dates for the 2014 Davis Cup by BNP Paribas:

World Group first round - January 31 – February 2
World Group quarterfinals - April 4-6
World Group semifinals / play-offs - September 12-14
World Group Final - November 21-23


Security Concerns Continue For Davis Cup Play

Following the recent problems encountered in staging as a neutral venue, the abandoned and now contentious Davis Cup meeting between Pakistan and New Zealand, the Asian state of Myanmar (formerly Burma) has cancelled a series of Davis Cup matches in Yangon citing security fears.


Wimbledon Insists It Was Not Forced To Increase Prize Money

Although All England Club chairman Philip Brook was insistent Wimbledon was not forced in any way towards the 40% overall increase in prize money for the 2013 Championships announced yesterday, the playing fraternities were celebrating the news as a great victory for the bargaining power of the ATP World Tour and WTA.



Stosur Hopes Her Injury Problems Are Over

A pair of straight-set wins in weekend Fed Cup play on the way to an Australian victory over the Swiss have convinced former US Open winner Samantha Stosur that she may have put her injury troubles behind. The No. 9 has been bothered for the past month by a calf problem, which finally seems to have healed just in time for the start of the spring clay run-up to Roland Garros.
