Player Use Of Cell Phones Is Becoming A Problem On The Pro Tour

So far the main trend as this year’s French Open is the dash for cover as another wave of inclement and wet Parisian weather disrupts play but it is closely followed by the use of mobile or cell telephones on court, which potentially contravenes outlines set by the Tennis Integrity Unit who are mindful of messages being sent to potential gamblers. It could also be a way coaches communicate with their players during matches.

 

Benneteau Hoping For Consecutive Wins Over Federer

Julien Benneteau can only dream of a repeat win over Roger Federer when he faces the second seed in the third round at Roland Garros. It was only three months ago indoors in Rotterdam that the Frenchman upset the Swiss, his second win in their six-match series.

 

 

Noah Sees Current French Players Not Strong Enough

Yannick Noah, the last home player to win the French Open 30 years ago, has little faith that any current compatriot can duplicate his 1983 record at the French Open. 

Noah was pessimistic on his younger countrymen at this edition, rating their time as "not now - not this generation. It's not that I think they are no good. It's just that the guys ahead of them are stronger."

 

James Blake To Play Newport In July

James Blake, a former world top-5 player on the ATP World Tour, has joined the player field for the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships, to be held July 8 - 14 in Newport, Rhode Island.

 

 

 

Tennis Channel To Show NCAA Division I Team Highlights 

Tennis Channel will air highlights of the NCAA Division I team championships from Champaign, Illinois on the NCAA Championships Highlight Show presented by the USTA, premiering on June 8 at 2:30 p.m. ET.

The show, hosted by Scott Treibly, is scheduled to air an additional four times: June 8, 8 p.m. ET; June 13, 12:30 p.m. ET; June 14, 4 p.m. ET; June 27, 11 a.m. ET.

The Tennis Center at College Park (TCCP) is interviewing for a full time staff teaching professional.   Primary compensation is based on generating private lessons during non-prime time hours.  Benefits include health insurance.
