Venus Williams Withdraws From Wimbledon

Venus Williams’ unbroken run of 16 bids to win Wimbledon, with five singles and another five doubles titles to show for her labors, will come to an end this year as one the game’s great champions who turned 33 years of age just two days ago ruled herself out of contesting this year’s Championships because of a back injury.



Wozniacki Considering Changing Rackets

Caroline Wozniacki revealed she's experimenting with the frame in a bid to add some extra power to her game that has been found wanting of late.

“I’m just tinkering a little bit with my racket,” said the Dane whose experiment began with a win although Austrian opponent Tamira Paszek was forced to retire when trailing 6-2, 2-2. “I’m still under contract with Yonex, so we’re just trying to figure out a racket that can help me a little bit more with my game."


Bollettieri, Braden And Wilkinson To Be Honored By USPTA

Nick Bollettieri, Vic Braden and Steve Wilkinson will join the ranks of only 13 others when they are inducted into the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) Hall of Fame.  They will be inducted on Sept. 27 during the USPTA’s national awards luncheon at the World Conference at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando, Fla.


Courier Joins Tennis Channel’s Wimbledon Broadcast Team

Tennis Channel announced that Jim Courier has joined Tennis Channel to take on analyst's duties at Wimbledon and the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, Calif. The multiyear agreement expands upon Courier's role as full-time lead men's US Open analyst, begun in 2012, and comes in time for Tennis Channel's sixth year of coverage in London via the nightly Wimbledon Primetime, set for June 24-July 7.



Kvitova, No. 8 In The World, Enters Southern California Open

The Southern California Open, a major stop on the Emirates Airline US Open Series summer calendar, has announced that Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic, ranked No. 8 in the world, has entered the WTA Premier 700 tennis event which will once again be hosted at the La Costa Resort and Spa on July 27-August 4.

Sherwood Swim and Racquet Club, Greensboro, North Carolina seeks an assistant professional.

This is a full-time position involving teaching group lessons for players of all ages and levels. It also involves running leagues and helping organize social events.  Must be at least a 5.0 player.

The position has a base salary plus a percentage of private lessons and an hourly clinic rate.
