Slippery Grass Criticized At Wimbledon

Wimbledon set an Open Era record with retirements/walkovers with seven on Wednesday, and whether the slippery courts were to blame is very much up to debate.

Among those players who retired or pulled out included John Isner, Victoria Azarenka, Steve Darcis, Radek Stepanek, Jo Wilfried Tsonga, Yaroslava Shvedova and Marin Cilic.

Federer Is Defeated At Wimbledon

Sergiy Stakhovsky admitted that he felt "outnumbered" as he took to the court against Roger Federer in the Wimbledon second round., But the No. 116 outsider ignored the math and got on with the biggest upset of his career as he ended the run of the seven-time champion.

After A Defeat, Federer Is Plotting Strategy For The Future

Roger Federer was digesting his epic Wimbledon second round loss 6-7(5), 7-6(5), 7-5, 7-6(5) to Ukrainian Sergiy Stakhovsky and already plotting strategy for the future. Nothing will change for the Swiss as he admits defeats and prepares for what he hopes are better days on the summer North American hardcourts.

Washington To Be Loaded With Young Stars

Many of the world’s top young female tennis stars have committed to play in this year’s Citi Open.

Sloane Stephens, Sorana Cirstea, Simona Halep, Madison Keys, Heather Watson, Christina McHale, Eugenie Bouchard, and Taylor Townsend, all age 23 and under, are part of the outstanding Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) player field competing for the Citi Open title.
