Final Facts
- Zhang
wins her first WTA title in her first WTA final. Her
previous best WTA result also occurred in Guangzhou, a
semifinal showing in 2010.
- Zhang did not surrender
a set all week.
- Zhang is Guangzhou’s third Chinese
champion but first since Yan Zi in 2005.
- Zhang is
the third wildcard to win a WTA title this season, with
Samantha Stosur having won Carlsbad in August and Lucie
Safarova having won Québec City last week.
- King
falls to 1-1 in WTA finals, having won Bangkok in 2006
in her one previous WTA final.
- King is the third
player in 2013 to reach finals at the same WTA event in
singles and doubles after Sara Errani in Paris [Indoors]
and Olga Govortsova in Tashkent.
- Zhang and King are
both projected to return to the Top 100 on the new
rankings, Zhang entering that ranking class for the
first time since September 2011.
- Hsieh and Peng win
their WTA-leading fourth title of the season and eighth
of their partnership while improving to 8-0 in WTA
- Hsieh now has 13 WTA doubles titles to her
name, and Peng has 11.
