WTA Executives Departing

Two WTA executives and one long time staffer will no longer be with the organization in 2014.

WTA Chief Marketing Officer Andrew Walker will exit at the end of December. WTA head of communications Chris Wallace was let go by the organization just before Thanksgiving after a dispute. The WTA communications department is also said to have recently parted ways with longtime staffer Vani Vosburgh.

Federer May Not Hire A Coach

Roger Federer may well forego appointing a new coach after splitting in the autumn with Californian Paul Annacone, with the Swiss hinting that he might be quite well-served by his longtime ally on court Severin Luthi. "In Severin, I still have a coach who has been extremely helpful for me for a long time," he told sponsor Credit Suisse in an off-season interview before getting to worked in the heat of Dubai.

"But I don't know if he can or wants to be on the road with me for 40 weeks next year. At the moment, I don't know if I am going to appoint a new coach at all. I'm very happy with my team."

Nadal Made $10 Million On South American Swing

Rafael Nadal has taken a shot at another record held by Roger Federer, with the Spaniard earning a reported $10 million for a week or so of "work" on court in South America, backed up by world No. 2 Novak Djokovic and David Ferrer for part of the lucrative post-season trip.

Federer Reviews His 2013 Season

Despite going 45-17 last season and dropping to sixth in the ATP rankings, Roger Federer wisely refuses to beat himself up over one of the poorest showings of his storied career. "No year is lost. In the circumstances, it was actually an interesting season,” said the Swiss in a chat with sponsor Credit Suisse. "It's no joke being injured (spring and summer back problems). But I had to get through it, I had to question everything."

Nadal To Play Argentina In February

World #1 Rafa Nadal announced today his participation at the Copa Claro, ATP World Tour 250 event to be played in Buenos Aires, Argentina the week of February 8th to the 16th at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club.

Ivanisevic And Henman Win In London

Goran Ivanisevic got the first of what he hoped would be two victories on Wednesday, as he defeated Greg Rusedski 7-6(2), 7-6(6) at the Statoil Masters Tennis, held at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

Following the red carpet arrivals, Wednesday’s evening singles match came to an abrupt end after Mark Philippoussis was forced to retire with a back injury. The Australian trailed Henman 4-5, and injured his back in his service motion to start the 10th game.
