Cibulkova, Not Thinking She Has To Win, Is Winning

Dominika Cibulkova has reached her first Grand Slam event final at the Australian Open and while there were technical and physical issues she had to address during the off-season, the Slovak needed a mental boost too.

Li Has A Big Following In the Australian Open Final

The anomaly in national support from the two contestants in tomorrow’s Australian Open women’s final will be overwhelming.

Li Na will have 1.3 billion fellow Chinese behind her while Dominka Cibulkova can only number 5.4 million fellow Slovaks. Nevertheless the world no.24 still insists being the first ever player from her country to contest a Grand Slam final: “It’s massive.”

Celebration Fireworks Get In The Way Of The Australian Open

Australia Day, the nation’s annual celebration of the anniversary of the 1788 arrival of the First Fleet of British ships, coincides with the Australian Open men’s final this year.

But the distraction of a ten minutes long cacophony of fireworks that effected last year’s women’s final will hopefully not be repeated.

Williams Might Play Indian Wells Event

Indian Wells officials are hoping that recent hints might mean that Serena Williams is ready to set aside a feud of 13 years by signing up to play in the upcoming edition of the men's and women's Masters in the Californian desert.
