At Last, Bollettieri To Be Inducted Into Hall Of Fame

After two unsuccessful nominations, Nick Bollettieri will finally be inducted to the International Tennis Hall of Fame this year -- much to his satisfaction.

"I am sort of numb, hard to explain. For my family for all my players I worked with and all my friends who supported me, IMG ... the award does not belong to only me,"  the Sarasota Herald-Tribune quoted him as saying.

Stephens Still Struggling With Wrist Injury

Sloane Stephens is still struggling with the wrist injury she suffered at Hopman Cup, with doctors yet to figure out the problem.

"I have like an old person's wrist that kinda just messes up when it wants to and gives me some trouble," she told USA Today.

Lendl Likes Murray’s Future On Clay

Ever since Andy Murray emerged on the scene, he has made it clear the French Open and clay present the greatest difficulties for him to play his best tennis, even though he was schooled in the finer points of the game at the Academy Sanchez-Casal in Barcelona.

But now his coach Ivan Lendl believes the back surgery Murray underwent at the end of last September could alleviate the problems Murray felt, that for the most part were in the mind.

Roddick Sees New Coach Has Helped Wawrinka Reach New Heights

Andy Roddick, now a sportscaster for Fox, is already passing an opinion or two in his new media role.

But the American is keeping a particularly close eye - as is the rest of the tennis world - on the upcoming performance of Stanislas Wawrinka, who will make his return to the courts after winning the Australian Open title in January and then helping Switzerland to a Davis Cup win before taking a month off to let it all soak in. "It's going to be interesting from here on out," the 31-year-old Roddick told Tennis Now. "For eight years of his career, his ranking has been between 10 and 40. It shows you how much of tennis is in between the ears."

Agassi Is Having Some Second Thoughts About Playing In The IPTL

Homebody Andre Agassi will put family over massive appearance fees if the new IPTL schedule interrupts his American Thanksgiving holiday next November. The former ace told Reuters that he would not be bothered if he had to play on the North American feast-and-football day and would not participate if any of his journeys to  Asia took more than a few days.

"My agreement to do it was based on a few very specific conditions. Certainly economics played a little part in it but also time away played another part. I can't be away for more than four or five days so I set some limitations and had some dates in December."
