British Davis Cup Team Shuffled To Protect Murray Brings Back Hutchins

Concerns about a minor stomach virus being suffered by Andy Murray before today’s Italy v Great Britain Davis Cup quarterfinal in Naples paled by comparison when it was remembered nine months to the day doubles player Ross Hutchins was undergoing chemotherapy in a Surrey hospital in a bid to overcome cancer.

Hutchins, now thankfully in remission from Hodgkins lymphoma, is set to make his return to the British line-up tomorrow alongside regular partner Colin Fleming against the chosen Italian duo as Britain bid to for a semi-finals spot for the first time since 1981.

Anyone who has ever watched David Ferrer play tennis must at some time have wondered whether the diminutive Spaniard could run for ever. But now the world no.6, who celebrated his 32nd birthday two days ago, admits the years of effort are taking their toll.

PokerStars ambassador, Rafa Nadal, will face the world’s best female poker player, Vanessa Selbst, in a heads-up poker game at Casino de Monte Carlo on Friday, April 11.

 

Houston To Host Clay Court Tournament

The U.S. Men's Clay Court Championship to be held at River Oaks Country Club April 7-13 is filling up.

Steve Johnson and  Rhyne Williams, who played each other in the 2011 NCAA title match, have accepted the final two wild cards.

One of the most prestigious clubs in North Carolina with 1,500 members, 2 facilities totaling 14 courts, 11 outdoor clay courts and 3 indoor hard courts, is seeking a dynamic high energy creative Teaching Professional.  Recent collegiate and tournament playing experience is needed in addition to a minimum 2 years of full time club experience teaching juniors of all levels and women’s competitive teams.

Looking for an innovative and motivated professional who is willing to help develop, organize and teach women’s competitive teams, junior programs (of all levels from 10-under to tournament juniors) in addition to teaching private lessons. The program consists of 130 women team tennis players, 60 men players and over 100 junior players.  There is a teaching staff totaling 3 full time professionals that all work together and report to the Tennis Director.  All 3 pros also help organize and run social and special events.

This is a chance to receive the education and experience needed to become a future Tennis Director. Excellent opportunity for a professional to be under a Director who has placed numerous individuals in Directors positions across the country.

Compensation includes: above average base salary and commission on lessons and clinics.  $60,000-$70,000 potential earnings.
