Nadal Gets Two Time Violations
in Monte Carlo Match
Rafael Nadal said umpires are
becoming redundant if they do not use their discretion
during matches. The world No. 1 was calling for
flexibility in enforcing the time violations rule.
Nadal received a time violation
twice in his third round match against Gabashvili,
complaining extensively to the umpire Pascal Maria after
getting one when at 30-40, 4-0 in the second set.
Nishikori Brings Chang To
Kei Nishikori has imported his
VIP coach Michael Chang from the US to bolster a return
to tennis after injury as he plays the Barcelona Open
next week. Nishikori, ranked 17th, has already hit the
clay with 1989 French Open champion Chang at the Real
Club de Tenis as Japan's No. 1 tests himself after
withdrawing before Miami semi-final three weeks ago.
Wildcard Distribution Being
Wildcards can cause contention
among players and their representatives. Sam Duvall,
tennis agent and VP for Lagardere, told Forbes he has
"mixed feelings" about wildcards.
Murray Likely To Be The Only
Brit In French Open
Clay-averse Wimbledon winner
Andy Murray will likely be the lone Briton in any
singles draw at the French Open after a pair of
low-ranked women players missed the cut-off for entry,
into Roland Garros from May 25. Heather Watson (121st)
and Johanna Konta (117th) will have to play qualifying
rounds if they wants a chance, while British women's No.
1 Laura Robson is out for months as she undergoes wrist
