Injury Forces Djokovic To Withdraw From Madrid

A right wrist injury has caught up with Novak Djokovic, forcing the no. 2 out of the Madrid Masters. The second seed would have been able to theoretically challenge Rafael Nadal for the world No. 1 ranking this week on clay had he won the title and Nadal lost prior to the quarter-finals.


Baltacha Passes Away Due To Liver Cancer

The world of tennis was united in its’ mourning for Elena Baltacha, the former British no.1 female player and world no. 49, who passed away  on Sunday, aged just 30 after revealing she was suffering from liver cancer just two months ago.


Rally For Bally To Be Held As Scheduled

Next month’s Rally for Bally, a tennis event on Sunday June 15 originally designed to support cancer stricken British tennis star Elena Baltacha, will still go ahead as planned despite the player’s sad passing on Sunday. Instead it will go ahead in her memory to raise money for cancer research and to continue work of the Elena Baltacha Academy of Tennis.

Robby Ginepri and Taylor Townsend have earned French Open wildcards with their performances in the USTA Pro Circuit wildcard challenge.


Haas’ Week Was Good, But Sadly, Not Good Enough

German veteran Tommy Haas fell just short in Munich as his title defense at the BMW Open ended in the semi-finals with a 6-3, 6-2 loss to Slovenian Martin Kalian. But the 36-year-old Haas, who is fighting long-term problems with his right shoulder, said that while he didn't get the chance to repeat as champion in the Bavarian capital after winning the honors in 2013, he still turned in a decent week.
