Tennis World Mourns Passing of Baltacha

Tennis became very much secondary at the Madrid Mutua Open as sadness abounded sadness abounded following news of the death on Sunday of Elena Baltacha, the former British No 1, at the age of 30 from liver cancer.

Prior to the evening session of play, a group of players and officials filed onto the main stadium court at Madrid’s Caja Magica to the strains of Eric Clapton’s Tears in Heaven. They were led btournament director Manuel Santana on to and stood for a minute’s silent reflection to ponder the life of one of their own.

Date-Krumm Has Tokyo 2020 Targeted

Japan's evergreen Kimiko Date-Krumm admits that at age 43, a lifetime of tennis is starting to catch up with her. But the battling veteran has no plans yet for retirement and has even joked to AFP of dreaming of somehow being cryogenically frozen in order to be ready for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Ruckus Wireless, Inc. announced  that Indian Wells Tennis Garden, owned by Larry Ellison, co-founder and CEO of Oracle Corporation, has successfully deployed a massive, high-density, high-capacity Smart Wi-Fi network throughout its entire 54 acre complex, which was in use during the BNP Paribas Open held there last March.
