Dancevic Complains About Wimbledon Player Services

Canada’s Frank Dancevic may have benefited from the charity of the All England Club after being allowed into the Men’s Singles draw as a lucky loser and therefore guaranteeing himself a £27,500 win. But it didn’t stop him making a furious written attack at the tournament, or more accurately the Wimbledon Player Services.

Dancevic was less than impressed by facilities at the qualifying competition held at nearby Roehampton. He did not like the fact player restaurant closed at 9pm and was further angered by the fact there were only two massage therapists designated to answer the needs for 128 players.

“I have to say that I'm extremely disappointed at the player services at Wimbledon Qualifying this year,” stormed Dancevic on Facebook. “Given that it is the biggest tournament in the world you would think that the payers would feel welcome and comfortable on site.”

The 29 year-old Canadian from Niagara Falls, ranked 106 in the world, is a seven year veteran of Wimbledon but has only made it through qualifying twice previously. “This is Wimbledon people!!! Get your S##t together,” “Add two more therapists and everyone is out at 8:30pm. It's unfair to everyone."

Dancevic, pitched against 29th seed Ivo Karlovic in the draw had other complaints like the lack of an ice bath for recovery at Roehampton. Instead players were told to use a trash bin, lined with a plastic bin liner and filled with ice.

He wrote: “Physio tells me ''Sorry Frank there is no ice bath on site, The players are using a Garbage bin and filling it with Water and ice'' Haha WHAT.''
