There could be no ranking points given to players in the men’s competition at the Olympic Games if the current disagreement between the ITF and ATP continues.

The ITF does not want to give financial compensation to the ATP events affected by the Games, according to Spanish national daily sport newspaper, Marca.  The ATP, in response, is refusing to renew its agreement with the ITF to give ranking points at the Games. The publication said that newly-elected ITF president David Haggerty could not reach a deal to extend the arrangement.

The London Games saw 750 points given to the winner. It is the only time there have been ATP ranking points at the Olympics.
The Games will be played during the hardcourt season, affecting some of the smaller events. The publication did not give the amount of compensation at issue.
