Rafael Nadal Tennis News

Rafael Nadal will likely be keen to make a better impression after his first-round loss a year ago as the Spaniard returns to Queen’s club in June for a pre-Wimbledon warm-up. The world No. 5 made an early exit a year ago at the hands of Alexander Dolgopolov.

Nadal may be wanting to remember the good times of 2008, when he won Queen’s and Wimbledon after claiming another in his string of nine French Open crowns. Nadal and Andy Murray will headline the week on the lawns in west London.

“I love playing at The Queen’s Club and I am very happy that I will be back this year,” Nadal said. “I’ll never forget winning the title in 2008, it was a special moment, and going on to win my first Wimbledon.”

Nadal praised the event as “a very important tournament, very well organized and on some of the best grass courts in the world. Holding that trophy again would be amazing although I am well aware of the difficulties because the tournament always has so many good players.”

Nadal will be making his seventh Queen’s appearance. Of the five Wimbledon finals he has reached, he has previously used Queen’s as his grass tune-up week.
