Lagardere Tennis News

The first indication that some players may leave the sporting agency Lagardere International following the exits of several key agents is that Andy Murray is considering dropping his ties to the company.

Murray has his own private agency called 77 management — the name is a reference to the date of his Wimbledon victory — but has a marketing contract with Lagardere International as well.

However, a SportsBusiness Journal representative said that Murray is no longer going to be associated with the large-scale agency, but instead have his own agency handle his marketing as well. A Lagardere employee, Gawain Davies, is anticipated to leave for a role with 77 management.

The agency recently dismissed its tennis president, John Tobias, which led to other established agents like Melien Tu and Sam Duvall also leaving.

In an interview with a Danish newspaper, Caroline Wozniacki’s father, Piotr, said he did not know whether she would stay with Lagardere.
