Lagardere Tennis News
While there has been a large reduction of the tennis division of Lagardère, the agency is maintaining some presence in the sport.

It still represents Richard Gasquet and Caroline Wozniacki, and also runs three tournaments. That is much less than before, with the agency deciding to remove lead agent John Tobias in 2015, which led to many of its agents also leaving, Most of its top players followed, including John Isner, Agnieszka Radwanska, and Kevin Anderson.

But it still appears to intend on staying in tennis representation and recently announced a new signing, Ulises Blanch. The 17-year-old, who has been as high as No. 12 in the junior rankings, said in a statement, “This is a huge step in my young career and it is important to surround myself with the right people to help navigate this journey. Lagardère Sports’ global expertise and tennis knowledge will offer me a great platform to develop, grow and succeed.’

The agency also announced that it has signed  a multiyear agreement with cellular phone company Ericsson as the title sponsor of the WTA event at Bastad.

In a release, Ericsson was said to have made a significant investment in the tournament and would be the “leading partner in terms of both exposure and activation.”

“This is a unique partnership that we have planned for a long period. We are both proud and obviously happy to get the opportunity to work with one of Sweden’s strongest business partners for one of the country’s strongest sports events for women.” said Christer Hult, the agency’s executive Tennis Europe.

The tennis department is now led by Julien Cassaigne. The company of 1,600 still has an extensive presence in sports, media and entertainment.
