Andy Murray looks set to join Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic in becoming a father, with British tabloids reporting that the Scot’s new wife Kim Sears is pregnant and expecting the couple’s first child as early as February.

Murray and his long-time girlfriend married last April in the player’s own five-star Scottish hotel located outside the village of Dunblane where he grew up. News of the pregnancy came to light as 27-year-old Kim made a trip to the doctor for a 12-week scan.

Reports indicated that only family and close friends knew of the pregnancy, with Murray now in the US playing hardcourt ATP events prior to the August 31 start of the US Open.

He will start as second seed next week at the Montreal Masters and follow up the week following in Cincinnati.

Murray’s mother Judy has in the past noted her desire to be ‘a very active granny for sure.’ His coach Amelie Mauresmo is due to give birth to a child of her own within days.
