Novak Djokovic hasn’t lost a match since Cincinnati in August and he has now won 17 contests in a row, winning the US Open, Beijing and Shanghai.

During that time, he has knocked down the other so-called ‘Big 4′: Roger Federer (at the US Open); Rafael Nadal (in Beijing); and Andy Murray (in Shanghai). In New York, the 17-time Grand Slam event champion Federer came close in the final, but he couldn’t do it against Djokovic. Against Nadal in the final in Beijing, the Serbian only lost four games. In Shanghai in the semis, Djokovic. wiped the two-time major champion Murray, also in only losing  four games.

One of his coaches, Marian Vajda, said that the No. 1 Djokovic is playing so well now that the competitors can’t find a way to unearth him.

“That’s the kind of position you want to be in on the court,” Djokovic said. ” When you’re playing top players, obviously requiring from you your best tennis, but knowing that I can cover the biggest part of the court from each side allows me obviously to gain more confidence in terms of when we get into the rally.

“Of course, I can’t expect to win every single rally, but percentage?wise I have a very good chance against anybody because I know I can adjust to anybody’s game: players who are coming to the net or players who are staying back, playing flat or spin. I’ve played so many times against so many players, over the years you develop this kind of ability to adjust.”

The 28-year-old Djokovic has won three majors this season, as well as six ATP 1000 Series crowns during the year. Djokovic is in a prime of his career, perhaps because the 10-time Grand Slam champion seems to know whichever way he goes.

“I think specifically this year what I’ve done very well is I haven’t waited for other players to take initiative. I’ve taken initiative first,” Djokovic said. “So the quality of my first shots has been better this year than I think ever been before. That’s one of the main parts of my success in the game.”
