The ATP event at Hamburg no longer has title sponsor, with Bet-At-Home deciding not to renew its agreement with the tournament.

This announcement came despite the corporation’s recent announcement that its profits have climbed by 29 percent. The online bookie wants to concentrate on soccer, and had previously criticized the poor fields attracted by the  tournament, which is played on clay between the grasscourt and hardcourt season. Though Rafael Nadal played this year’s event, the Spaniard was the only player in the top 20 in the tournament.

It is yet another financial challenge for the one-time Masters event, which was downgraded to a 500 and moved to an unattractive position in the tour schedule. It has had repeated challenges getting a title sponsor, with Bet-At-Home ruled ineligible under gambling regulations in 2009 but reinstated by 2011.

However, organizers will look for another title sponsor. “We do not yet know the name of the tournament… but with more than 30 partners, we have a solid basis,” said the chief of the organizing company. “We hope to add more.”

Michael Stich is the tournament director.
