Andy Murray Tennis News

Andy Murray is preparing to quietly add tennis mate Jamie Delgado to his coaching team, with the British player who retired from doubles in 2014 and stopped playing singles in 2010, set to come aboard as assistant coach to Amelie Mauresmo.

London’s Daily Mail said the 38-year-old who won three career matches at Wimbledon from nine appearances and whose highest ATP ranking was 121, got hands-on experience working with Murray at the Australian Open, albeit in a low-key role in the background of the team.

Murray has said he wants someone who can travel almost nonstop, something that new mother Mauresmo cannot do full-time; her weeks with Murray are firmly limited by contract.

Delgado, conveniently based at Wimbledon, Delgado looks to be playing the role of competent sparring partner The Briton had been coach Luxembourg’s Gilles Muller, an association which ended last month.
