The Miami Open will have Lacoste as its clothing sponsor for a second year, with the French apparel company planning several promotional activities around the event.

It will dress ballkids and officiating personnel on court as well as run a social media campaign that allows spectators to win tickets to the tournament by sharing their tennis stories online. Promotions will also be run in the city, with a tennis court set up at a local mall during the event and special events at the company’s city flagship store.

“South Florida is a key market for the Lacoste brand and this sponsorship reinforces our commitment to both this important region and our tennis heritage,” regional CEO Joëlle Grünberg noted in a statement.

The company signed the multi-year deal with the combined ATP and WTA event at the same time that it opened its first location in Miami. It does 40 percent of its retail business in North America, with Florida the biggest source of sales. Upon announcing the deal, a company executive said that its association with the Miami Open could increase sales by 20 or 30 percent.

The company is also a sponsor of the ATP tour.
