Serena Williams Defeats Sister
Venus In Three Sets

As Serena Williams took another
step notable step closer to the calendar Grand Slam in
arguably the most meaningful confrontation she has
played against her sister since the 2009 Wimbledon
final, the pair admitted it was probably the most
testing match in their careers.

Nobody will ever know what
emotions Venus experienced as she tried to prevent her
sister from achieving something very special.  What was
evident to everyone is that she gave everything she had
but in the end was not too crestfallen to end up beaten
6-2,1-6,6-3.

 

Tomic Replaces Kyrgios On
Australia Davis Cup Squad

Notorious Nick Kyrgios has been
left off the Australian Davis Cup side which will face
Britain in next weekend’s semi-finals in Glasgow. The
Scottish date which will be headlined for the hosts by
Andy Murray will the winning team to the November final
against either Argentina or Belgium.

 

Federer Claims Good Preparation
Pays Off In Competition

Roger Federer credit intelligent
preparation as the basis for his stellar performances so
far at the US Open as the 17-time grand slam event
winner seeks a sixth title at Flushing Meadows. The
second seed who hammered John Isner in fourth-round
straight sets is now focused on Richard Gasquet, against
whom he holds a commanding 14-2 record.

 

Federer To Return To ATP World
Tour Finals

Roger Federer will play in 
the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals after reaching the US
Open quarter-finals on Monday night in New York.
Federer, who will break his own record with a 14th
successive appearance, joins Novak Djokovic and Andy
Murray in the elite eight-man field at the season
finale, to be held at The O2 in London from 15-22
November. He will be looking to win his seventh crown.
