The ATP event in Atlanta has been sold to the Jerry Solomon-based group that also  bought the ATP event in Memphis.

As with Memphis, the event is said to be staying in its current location and keeping its current tournament director as well.

“When a tournament is going in a positive direction — players said it’s one of their favorite tournaments of the year, and maybe their favorite in North America — you can’t look to move the event,” Solomon told the Journal Constitution.

Solomon, whose company runs the annual exhibition event at Madison Square Garden, is working with an unidentified New York-based financial group that is looking to increase its presence in event ownership. Though he has not identified the group, the promoter has said it has an association with the game.

“It’’s exciting for Atlanta and the tournament. The event has good momentum and he can help make it become bigger and better,” said tournament director Eddie Gonzalez.

The ATP 250 was previously owned by USTA Southern and the USTA. BB&T is the title sponsor.
