The Pensacola Futures main draw began as scheduled this morning even though bad weather was imminent. We were able to finish five matches and start three more before play had to be suspended due to rain. Denis Nguyen defeated eighth seeded and 579th ranked Lucas Gomez from Mexico in two sets. Vasil Kirkov’s impressive run came to end today after losing in two sets to sixth seeded Argentinian Maximiliano Estevez.

Leandro Portmann, another player from Argentina, had to retire from his match with Alex Rybakov due to a shoulder injury. Portmann was also forced to retire from his doubles match against Bruno Savi and Chris Ephron. Savi and Ephron will now play Jack and Jamie Vance in their doubles match.

The matches that started but didn’t finish will resume where they left off before the rain. These matches include Michael Lippens versus Gianni Ross, Mitchell Stewart versus Alexios Halebian, and first seeded Bastian Trinker versus Filippo Leonardi.
