Jamie Murray Tennis News

Jamie Murray has signed a sponsorship deal with Peugeot, yet another recent move by the French automaker into tennis.

The company has been a long-time sponsor of the French Open and has also signed No. 1 Novak Djokovic, in addition to just announcing that it is becoming the official vehicle of the ATP tour.

For the CEO, Maxime Picat, tennis was described as personifying “performance, innovation and excellence.”

Now, the sponsorship of Jamie Murray is “further expression of the support Peugeot provides tennis,” he said.

”This sponsorship is great news and will prove invaluable in my competitive efforts,” said Murray in a release. “It’s great that Peugeot is extending its involvement in tennis.”

The 29-year-old will wear a company patch on his sleeve. Though still far behind Andy Murray, Jamie has climbed to No. 7 in the doubles rankings. “If people are starting to recognize me, great,” he said before his appearance in the Tour Finals. ”I’ve never been that bothered about recognition.”

“I’m thankful for the opportunities I have and whatever, but it’s never got to the point where people are interested in where I walk my dog, and I’m fine with that.”

The Murray-Peers pairing has qualified for the O2 but Murray plans to next partner Bruno Soares in doubles.
