Retiring Belgian Kim Clijsters could take the knife to her concluding 2007 season schedule, hinting on her website that she may skip the French Open in order to prepare for the summer grass-court season.

The former No. 1 who is due to marry an American this summer and has vowed to retired at age 24 before year's end, said on her website that she could be making some tough choices. "It might well be that I skip Roland Garros, so I would be top fit for Eastbourne and Wimbledon in June."

Clijsters has already pulled from the Indian Wells Masters next month in California in order to be able to play in another big event, the Sony-Ericsson Open, in Miami, a production of the WTA Tour's title sponsor.

"I will have to take more rest after every tournament," said the world number 4. "It means I will skip Indian Wells so I have three weeks of rest until Miami."

Clijsters, a two-time Roland Garros finalist and US Open champion, has been bedevilled by injury throughout her short career. She is planning to make her final home appearance next week in Antwerp at the Diamond Games.

Clijsters won the Sydney title in January, then got as far as the Australian Open semi-finals. She has been bothered over past seasons by wrist problems which required surgery and has suffered with back pains.
