The USTA announced that first day sales for individual session tickets for the 2008 US Open set an all-time record yesterday. Over 41,000 tickets were sold yesterday, surpassing the entire 2007 first week sales. Last year’s first day sales, a record at the time, was 29,155. Last year’s US Open set a new attendance record with 715,587 fans.

The 2008 US Open will be held from Monday, August 25 through Sunday, September 7 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY. US Open individual ticket prices range from $22 to $100.

The 2008 US Open will mark the culmination of the Olympus US Open Series, the six-week summer tennis season linking all major ATP and Sony Ericsson WTA Tour tournaments in North America to the US Open. Last year, more than 75 million viewers watched the US Open on CBS Sports and USA Network, while international broadcasts reached 180 countries.
